(1)in need of意思是“需要……”，以人或单位作主语，后面接需要的对象作宾语。如：

(2)in need意思也是“在困难中，在危机中”，以需要的对象作主语，独立使用。如：
A friend in need is a friend indeed.
患难见真情。
(3)no need for表示“不必”，经常构成句式：
There is no need for sb  to do sth  对某人来说没有必要做某事；
There is no need for/of doing sth  没有必要做某事。如：
There is no need for you to wait.
你不必等。
There is no need for/of hurrying.
不用着急。
(4)in want of意思是“需要，缺少”，相当于in need of/in demand of。如：
People in the disaster area are in want of warm clothes and bedclothes.
那个灾区的人们现缺少棉衣棉被。
(5)for want of意思是“由于缺少”。如：
The grass died for want of water.
那些草由于缺水而枯死。

distribute通常指以整体或定量分为若干份来分配。
divide普通用词，侧重将某物分成若干份分配给他人，当某物一分为二时，含平均分配之意。
